A one time donation was made to the Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society for $1,000. This disease is a neurological disorder for which there is no cure. It affects about 1 in 15,000 people. Since 2018 KIC has generously donated +$44k as a result of our large membership and performance events. Donations Made to: Brown Bagging It For Calgary's Kids, The Delivery Connection (formerly called Meals On Wheels) and Inn From The ColdDonations approved by KIC's Executive were made in October in the amount of $1k each to Brown Bagging It for Calgary's Kids, Meals on Wheels and Inn From The Cold. Donations that this Club makes are spread out over the year and paid in the months that these charities require maximum funds for their needs. These donations are made possible by many volunteers in our Club that make up our Executive and Performance Team. As well as our large membership taking into consideration we still have the lowest line dancing fee in town.
For the second year in a row, Keepin' It Country Line Dance Club is the GOLD winner in the Line Dance Studio competition through the Calgary Herald and Calgary Sun. The official announcement will appear in their paper in November 2022. Congratulations to the Club for their very hard work to receive this honour. YAHOO to every member who helped make this possible as we couldn't do it without you.
The Veterans Food Bank are hosting a Silent Auction for those of you who may be interested in taking part. Our KIC Club supports the VETS annually with a donation as well as the Poppy Fund every November. Please check out the link if you are interested in helping out.
This month our Club has once again donated $1k to each of these charities. Both are such worthy causes but especially after the turbulent two plus years of COVID. Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers in our Club & Executive who make this possible.
A donation of $2k was made to the Country 105 : Calgary's Country 'Caring for Kids Radiothon' for the Children's Hospital this month as well as a donation of $500 to RESET Society of Calgary. This brings our total donations since Feb 2018 to just over $36k. These donations are made possible through the generosity of our volunteer Instructors, Executive and our large membership while maintaining a very low registration fee. A huge thanks goes out to each of our members for their continued support.
The 2021-22 Readers' Choice Awards were printed in the recent Calgary Herald and on page 11 you'll see that Keepin' It Country has been officially announced as the GOLD winner in the Line Dance Studio competition. Our Club has worked very hard for this well deserved honour. YAHOO to every member who helped make this possible as we couldn't do it without you.
With such a turbulent year and a half behind us and with many of us trying to figure out how to return to some normal way of life, it's a honour to announce that KICLDC has made three new donations during Oct 2021. Each of these chosen charities are doing everything they can to help those less fortunate. A donation of $1,000 each was made to: Brown Bagging It For Calgary's Kids, Meals on Wheels and Inn From The Cold. Our Club hopes our contribution makes a difference to those in need.
Once again I am excited to announce that KICLDC has made two more charitable donations of $1,000 each to Veteran's Association Food Bank and Calgary Counselling Centre. These donations wouldn't be possible without our wonderful volunteers who did many performances this summer. As well KIC received $350 ($250 A&W Okotoks & $100 Grand Seton) from the Social Dis-dancing group which will be donated as well. Kudos always to the members involved to make these performances happen whether it's behind the scenes or on the spot. We're all looking forward to getting back into the classroom to keep on learning so that we can continue making these donations that are truly appreciated.
During COVID-19 our Club may not have been able to enter the ARC for our regular classes but I'm pleased to say that we continued with our planned donations for the calendar year of 2020. The donations were as follows:
$2,000 January - Inn From the Cold $2,000 January - The Mustard Seed $2,000 February - AB Children's Hospital Radiothon (as already posted earlier) $2,000 May - Veteran's Association Food Bank $750 July - Calgary Counselling Centre $750 September - Brown Bagging It For Calgary's Kids $750 September - Meals on Wheels $200 October - Ronald McDonald House $750 December - Veteran's Association Food Bank TOTAL = $11,200 Plus our Poppy Fund donations from our members in November was $756.15. All of these donations are made possible by our large membership and of course all of our volunteers. Due to COVID we were unable to do many performances during 2020 but we're all hoping that 2021 will see our dancers returning to classes and once again we will be out performing for our Seniors and Stampede and special event functions. During 2021 a donation has already been made in February to the Alberta Children's Hospital Radiothon in the amount of $1,000. Plus a private donation of $1,000 was also made in February 2021. 2020 Calgary Stampede may have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19 but it can't stop the enthusiasm & spirit of our Stampede Community.
