The 2021-22 Readers' Choice Awards were printed in the recent Calgary Herald and on page 11 you'll see that Keepin' It Country has been officially announced as the GOLD winner in the Line Dance Studio competition. Our Club has worked very hard for this well deserved honour. YAHOO to every member who helped make this possible as we couldn't do it without you.

With such a turbulent year and a half behind us and with many of us trying to figure out how to return to some normal way of life, it's a honour to announce that KICLDC has made three new donations during Oct 2021. Each of these chosen charities are doing everything they can to help those less fortunate. A donation of $1,000 each was made to: Brown Bagging It For Calgary's Kids, Meals on Wheels and Inn From The Cold. Our Club hopes our contribution makes a difference to those in need.
Once again I am excited to announce that KICLDC has made two more charitable donations of $1,000 each to Veteran's Association Food Bank and Calgary Counselling Centre. These donations wouldn't be possible without our wonderful volunteers who did many performances this summer. As well KIC received $350 ($250 A&W Okotoks & $100 Grand Seton) from the Social Dis-dancing group which will be donated as well. Kudos always to the members involved to make these performances happen whether it's behind the scenes or on the spot. We're all looking forward to getting back into the classroom to keep on learning so that we can continue making these donations that are truly appreciated.
During COVID-19 our Club may not have been able to enter the ARC for our regular classes but I'm pleased to say that we continued with our planned donations for the calendar year of 2020. The donations were as follows:
$2,000 January - Inn From the Cold $2,000 January - The Mustard Seed $2,000 February - AB Children's Hospital Radiothon (as already posted earlier) $2,000 May - Veteran's Association Food Bank $750 July - Calgary Counselling Centre $750 September - Brown Bagging It For Calgary's Kids $750 September - Meals on Wheels $200 October - Ronald McDonald House $750 December - Veteran's Association Food Bank TOTAL = $11,200 Plus our Poppy Fund donations from our members in November was $756.15. All of these donations are made possible by our large membership and of course all of our volunteers. Due to COVID we were unable to do many performances during 2020 but we're all hoping that 2021 will see our dancers returning to classes and once again we will be out performing for our Seniors and Stampede and special event functions. During 2021 a donation has already been made in February to the Alberta Children's Hospital Radiothon in the amount of $1,000. Plus a private donation of $1,000 was also made in February 2021. 2020 Calgary Stampede may have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19 but it can't stop the enthusiasm & spirit of our Stampede Community. Keepin’ It Country Line Dance Club are very pleased to announce that we donated $2,000 in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital through County 105 Caring for Kids Radiothon. This year through a generous benefactor, all donations are being doubled. So our $2,000 has grown to $4,000 now.
KIC is able to make such a generous donation due to our very low session fee plus the nominal fee we charge to perform/entertain as well as the volunteerism of our members. It’s a privilege to belong to such a generous Club along with our excellent four Instructors and of course the enthusiasm of our members. Three carloads of canned/packaged food donations were delivered to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 285 - Horton Road for our Vets Food Bank Dec 4th after our Christmas Dance. These donations were from our KICLDC members who also contributed a total of $1,140 in cash, cheques & Visa gift cards. THANK YOU to all our members for your generosity and supporting this very important food drive and helping to make a difference to our VETS. ❤️
In accordance with the motion made by our KIC Executive in February 2019, a donation of $1,000 EACH has now been made to "Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids" and "Meals on Wheels".
KIC has now been informed that a donation of $400 has been made by the Catholic Women's League Association to the Alberta Children's Hospital under KICLDC's name. Our Club performed for their National Convention in Aug 2019 and they made this donation to show their appreciation for our performance, line dancing instruction given to their delegates and for the support we gave later throughout the evening. I am thrilled to let everyone know that our Club surpassed themselves this September 2019 with donations of brand new socks for the homeless. We more than doubled our collection from last year. Our members were given a challenge that for every pair of socks they donated, the Club would donate $1 towards the purchase of more socks up to a maximum of $500. They did it and 754 pairs of socks were donated for men, women & children. A huge THANK YOU goes out to our generous members!
Don't miss this opportunity to sign up as a new Beginner for our brand new evening of classes to be held Thursdays - 6 to 7 PM. Classes will start September 5th and will be held at the Acadia Recreation Complex. For our special event dances (Halloween & Christmas) we will be inviting all of our members to join the entire Club for those dancing potluck parties on the Wednesday evenings.
